Well, as my friend, Mary Ann, was packing to leave for York, PA, we talked about a sign she got for my home, "I hope our ship comes in before our dock rots." Not sure that will happen, but oh, well, life is good. At any rate, I decided I would start a blog so that my friends in PA and other places could keep up with what's happening with Harry, Cam, and I and so I didn't have to send constantly repeating emails. Facebook is fine, but you don't get enough space to write. So, then Mary Ann and I decided that perhaps it could be like the blog for the recipes in the Julia Child cookbook and perhaps in a year some famous producer would want to come and make a movie out of my blog. Wishful thinking...., but always think and dream big.
My friend, Dena, who I met in St. Louis when we were doing consulting work for Pearson, will arrive on Tuesday with her Mother and a friend.
I officially start work at Horry County Schools on Thursday. I'm really looking forward to it and all the changes that will ensue. I think we all need to change it up periodically to keep us energized. I also saw a quote n the paper today from Martha Stewart--"When you're through changing, your through."
But my most recent favorite quote is "There is no such thing in anyone's life as an unimportant day."
This weekend is tax free weekend in South Carolina, so I'm off to go shopping.
At any rate, this is going to be my on-line journal of thoughts. Hope it doesn't bore you too much.

ReplyDeleteHi Jane!
ReplyDeleteJust checked my email and found out about your new blog. What a great idea. I'm looking forward to hearing about your new adventures and seeing your photos! Glad we got to talk a little before you left York. Best Wishes to you, Harry and Cam! Denise Eckert
Jane,
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your first post. I will be following along. I started several blogs and I'm way behind in posting. But I do enjoy the blogging adventure.
You are so right about change being good. I so admire you for making the move, a new job, etc. That takes lots of guts and a lot of people our age just takes what life gives them and doesn't try for changes or bigger dreams. I'm glad I have company in moving forward and please know I support you 100%.
As your quote stated, "There is no such thing in anyone's life as an unimportant day." We all need to remember that and I think I will copy it for a future post on facebook. Who is the original author? Every day matters and it is a gift from God. We need to make the most of it and remember to thank him!
We arrived in Myrtle Beach area yesterday. Didn't realize it was tax free weekend or I might have shopped today instead of beaching it.
Keep writing and I will keep reading!
Robin

ReplyDeleteGreat way to keep everyone up North up to date on your new adventures! Donna W.
ReplyDeleteThe blog is really good - enjoy reading about your new adventures and keeping up with the family. I love the Martha Stewart quote because I think that's where I am on my job - nothing new to learn - feel I'm regressing instead of progressing. Time for me and Len to say good-bye to PA and head south as well, to be closer to family. Wish you all the best in your new job!
